It all started in April 2006. The 1st Annual Miriam Foundation Montreal Open Full Tilt Poker Texas Hold'em Tournament took place on April 6, 2006 at Marché Bonsecours and sold out with 800 players. The 10 finalists traveled to Las Vegas where five of them won entry into the 2006 WSOP and all shared in a cash prize pool.

The 2nd Annual Montreal Open was even bigger and better. It took place at Le Windsor over 4 days (March 26-29, 2007) and was the largest charity poker tournament in Canada with more than 1200 players. It came to an exciting close at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas on Sunday May 20, 2007 where 20 finalists shared a prize pool valued at $150,000 and the top nine finalists received entry into the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas in July 2007. The first-place winner also received a special VIP package including a poker lesson with a Full Tilt Poker pro.
